A1 Getting in a Lather

Unilever is famed for its hygiene and cleaning products and are among leaders in the industry. Their interest in QCM-D is to study the behaviour of surfactants that make such products so effective. Dr Jordan Petkov explains how QCM-D is being used to study surfactant adsorption. read more »

A2 QCM-D Learns to Clean Up

Supporting the growth of QCM-D industrial applications, Q-Sense has undertaken its own studies related to surfactants and enzymes used for cleaning products. Q-Sense demonstrates how the technique can provide detailed information about the performance and behaviour of detergent products by investigating the cleaning efficiency of three commercial kitchen cleaning sprays. read more »

A3 Tricks and Tips

Everything you need about surface immobilization strategies; Fredrik Höök gives an overview of surface immobilization techniques in the context of QCM-D. Being compatible with a wide range of different substrate materials, the choice can be bewildering. read more »

A4 Publications Review

Accelerating use of QCM-D is resulting in a flurry of new scientific publications. In this issue we have listed 15 of the many new QCM-D articles, and summarised two papers, Multilayer Arrays of Viral Nanoparticles and Use of Nanopatterned Surfaces to Enhance Immunoreaction Efficiency. read more »

Going industrial

In this issue, Q-News is proud to have one of many industrial customers writing the main article. Having gained considerable insight from working with academics in so many different fields, Q-Sense has always realised that the benefits of QCM-D has similar potential in the industrial arena.

In conjunction with this, the company is extending the capability of its QCM-D by offering additional modules such as the ability to combine electrochemistry with QCM-D on the same sensor. This offers a powerful combination of two complementary techniques that are popular within the scientific community.

Q-Sense is a company that continues to build and recently the longstanding partner CoAT was acquired. This marks Q-Sense’s continuing focus on sensors and the ability to offer customers a width of surfaces. It’s an exciting and challenging time as we aim to further extend the applications of QCM-D.
