Professor Christof Wöll, giving a talk at the QCM-D Scientific World Tour in Bensheim, Germany in September 2011:
The title of your talk for the QCM-D Scientific World Tour 2011 is Deposition and loading of metal organic frameworks, MOFs, on solid substrates: A fascinating application field for QCM.
Could you describe how your talk on the QCM-D World Tour is related to your research in general and tell something about your project at the moment?
"As the director of the Institute of Functional Interfaces (IFG) we are using many techniques to characterize surfaces of all kinds.
Presently, the importance of methods which can be used in-situ at the solid-liquid interface is increasing. Of particular importance for the IFG at present, are surface functionalizations brought about by growing metal-organic frameworks on appropriately modified substrates" says Professor Wöll.
Why is this type of research interesting to you personally?
"It offers huge flexibility of surface functionalization, also in the context of Interfacial Systems Chemistry."
When did you first get in contact with QCM-D?
"Four years ago, in 2007".
You are giving a talk at the QCM-D Scientific World Tour 2011. Why do you choose to participate in this meeting?
"I expect a number of stimulating discussions and further advice of colleagues" Professor Wöll says.
