Polymers

Upon request, Q-Sense coats sensor crystals (chips) with thin (nm) polymer coatings. The most common method is spincoating; a few percent of the polymer is dissolved in a suitable solvent and a droplet is placed on the sensor crystal. In the next step, a spincoater rotates the sensor crystal at a high rpm, thus creating a thin polymer coating in a reproducible manner.

After spincoating, the solvent evaporates. Spincoating can also be used to creat coatings that mimic other materials, such as cellulose.

Several Q-Sense customers have spincoated different polymer materials, please look up publications for more information.
